Robert started printing about five years ago following a course at the local arts centre. He found that it gave him an ideal medium to put onto paper the thoughts and ideas that had been filling his sketch and scrapbooks.
His ideas come from observation of the world around him, sketching what he sees to get the subject into his mind and to distil what it is that attracts him to it. No subject is off limits. He is a retired architect and this background very much influences the graphic style of his work, and the honest simplicity and technique of the linoprint.
Before lockdown his prints were made at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal, and since then he has printed from home using the hand burnishing process on Shoji Japanese paper.
