Bryan is a Scottish artist based in Banff, north Aberdeenshire, on the Moray Firth. He is inspired by the land and sea around him and the rich history of the people who shaped this coastline.
Part of his own family comes from this area giving him a strong sense of belonging. Bryan specialises in reduction lino printing and has two main areas of work – landscape and magical reality. His landscapes look at the patterns we make over time on the fabric of nature, the drama of the weather and the wildlife. The magical reality work is influenced by his time as a theatre designer and an interest in illustration.
In the last few years, he has been commissioned to work on commercial projects, such as historical visitor centres, packaging design and book illustration.
